the everyday = ramblings, rants, raves, "dawnese" (secret dawn language - yes, someone has announced and prescribed me my very own!), curiosities, passions, philosophy, and blabbering. oh, and some of my art work :)

i wanted to post something about a little thing that happened to me yesterday and give a little free advertisement to CVS.
DO NOT GET YOUR FILM DEVELOPED AT CVS, unless you want your film to be ruined. They have no idea what is going on and let just anyone run their machines...so pictures from my sister's wedding are completely blank because they tried to develop special black and white film in a COLOR PROCESSOR. it was a very chaotic and unprofessional situation that i am pretty astounded by...and i vow not to use them ever again.
ok, i have sent the warning out....

I NEED TO GET INTO THE ZONE AGAIN.
OF UNDERSTANDING, WITNESSING CLOSELY AGAIN - HOW THE WORLD WORKS.
WHEN YOU ARE QUIET AND LISTEN TO THE WAYS OF THE WIND, YOU SEE MORE THAN YOU EVER COULD.
IT HAS TO BE IN THOSE QUIET MOMENTS. YOU SHUT IT OFF AND OPEN THE DOOR OF THE UNEXPECTED.

all these moments continuously feel like passages. passing from one to the next. growing, moving, changing. PASSAGES.
Right before your eyes, discover...a good home, epic adventures, warmth, comfort, lots of fun, sleeping soundly, goodness.
homemadeSUNSHINE. reality.

a little vent here, a little vent there
oooh weeee, i love hearing some of the words that come out of some people's mouths. bull. bull. and more bull. i have learned to laugh it off. because, really? what more can you do ;) because i'm regularly tempted to laugh at these people. ... the things you see and hear come out of them are remarkable. but seriously, you can't really laugh at them, or can you? laughter is a really good medicine to cope with these wayward people who walk on their own street and their own street alone. i've concluded they have major issues, all on their own. it is what it is. ooooh weeee.

quote my friend erin passed along...
Do all the good you can, By all the means you can, In all the ways you can, In all the places you can, At all the times you can, To all the people you can, As long as ever you can

SOME THINGS I'VE BEEN LEARNING ALL OVER AGAIN ;) little reminders! please add to the list if you would like!
1. My quote I just made up - Perfection requires retention. HA!
2. write down goals, even small ones.
3. if you don't like something, change it.
4. always imagine yourself in the other person's shoes.
5. give the most you can.
6. smile at people, always. smiles are blessings.
7. you can always work on yourself - and NO SULKING. changing what you can, accepting and loving what you can't change.
8. let me refocus on you LORD.
9. look past the surface ideas and look at the inner humanity of each person.
"thus, happiness is a gift and the trick is not to expect it, but to delight in it when it comes ....and add to it other people's store of it"

new urbanism - local markets - food, products - organics = farmers ...creating a real community - a network (if not, people will become intolerant of each other and live within their own boxes) how do we buy locally? everything we need? how do we sustain within our own community? how are we not interdependent on this pyramid of commerce? how do we scale down the amount of space we need to live...and how many things we like to gather, buy? what is the attraction to hoarding? staying in your own world?
community planning? mixed use communities = parks, walkways, gardens, water, commerce, live, church, food, energy ?

well.....i'm into a lot of things lately and it IS an ever changing scenery of what amuses me and keeps my interest....but all of it follows suit...
1. the first thing would have to be how much i am into listening to God and how much i am always learning about our life here and how much God is preparing us. GOD IS AMAZING, and this life we are given is as such toooooo.
2. noticing the small things that make up your life or give you hope or encouragement, excitement...i love those small things :) yes sireeeee, don't pass em up!
3. as always, i'm into the movie scene, but especially what i learn from them - and the innate drive to research and follow on the quest long after the movie credits roll..... now, some are just for entertainment purposes only.
FICTIONAL MOVIES (or based on some truth...) that have recently been viewed by me and I enjoyed:
2 DAYS IN PARIS
BECOMING JANE
FEAST ON LOVE
LA VIE EN ROSE
MARGOT AT THE WEDDING
documentaries :)
MY KID COULD PAINT THAT - this movie was quite the attention holder to me and made me think, especially since i am a painter and have done so since i was little....it made me question quite a few things about art, influence, etc - i say it's worth watching - and it also made me think about when i have kids how i would react to my child's gifts, etc
WHO THE $#@* IS JACKSON POLLACK? - this movie to me, was in the same thoughts as the one above, especially if you are an artist. gave me a little insight on the snooty art world - i definitely felt like i would not want to be there. and i tried to understand how artists move into that scene, assuming that most start from nowhere and create to create. how does art ever get to a point where someone would pay 100 million dollars for it? please people. it seems to take the soul right out of the art.
THE BRIDGE - very, very strange film - the first one i have seen like this. it does what a documentary does best, takes you to things you have not seen before and broadens your perspective of the world and the lives people lead.
RADIANT CITY
THE END OF SUBURBIA - this one, as the one above, really intrigued me and my sense of our world. gave me some perspective of a timeline and what pushes our economy - some pieces of the puzzle seemed to fit together while wathcing this film. i couldn't see an agenda, nobody was selling anything. it also really made me appreciate and understand GOOD architecture and design a lot more! it sometimes take seeing bad design, to really understand the goodness we do have out there in design. HELLO? WE REALLY NEED SOME GOOD CITY PLANNERS OUT THERE!! and we need to understand our resources
CRAZY SEXY CANCER - really great movie, very funny and very emotional. the main lady, kris, i think is hilarious! and brave, but most of all - on top of controlling and helping her own body. it really gave me a true image of what it may be like to go through cancer, what craziness comes from it, but also what good things can come from it. it also helped to inspire me in my health quests that i was already working into....
THE CASE FOR CHRIST - liked this one too....watch it :)
okay, so i am also really excited to understand other languages - i mean i freakin love it. studying french right now - and anything else french i can get my hands on - french movies, music, food, understanding the culture. i like it. and it is a very sexy language ;)
later on the interests.... peace to you :)

new soul - by yael naim - me likey right now :)
I'm a new soul, I came into this strange world hoping I could learn a bit 'bout how to give and take. But since I came here, felt the joy and the fear, finding myself making every possible mistake.
la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la...
See, I'm a young soul in this very strange world hoping I could learn a bit 'bout what is true and fake. But why all this hate? Try to communicate, finding trust and love is not always easy to make.
la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la...
This is a happy end 'cause you don't understand everything you have done - why's everything so wrong?
This is a happy end come and give me your hand - I'll take your far away.
[Refrain]: I'm a new soul, I came into this strange world hoping I could learn a bit 'bout how to give and take. But since I came here, felt the joy and the fear, finding myself making every possible mistake.
la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la...
la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la....
